5 Football Matches to bet on this weekend at Housebets

Europe’s leagues return to action this weekend, although the 2024/2025 season is still in its infancy stage.

Top leagues like the Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A and Ligue 1 all kicked off last weekend with some exciting matches.

Usual suspects like Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain all picked up wins, while Inter Milan and Real Madrid were both held to surprising draws.

The action continues this weekend, though, with the Bundesliga also kicking off this weekend.

With that being said, Housebets takes a look at five matches you can bet on this weekend.

Premier League: Brighton & Hove Albion vs Manchester United

Both Brighton and Manchester United started their Premier League campaign with a win, but the Seagulls were more convincing.

Brighton were brilliant in Fabian Hürzeler’s first game in charge, beating Everton easily at Goodison Park.

The Seagulls will now be hoping to build on that solid performance with another win against Manchester United.

Brighton have fared well against Erik Ten Hag’s men in recent times, having won four of their last five home against Man Utd, although they lost 2-0 on the final day of last season.

Nonetheless, the Seagulls will fancy their chances against a United side they have beaten six times in 14 Premier League meetings.

As for Manchester United, they will be looking to build on their laboured 1-0 win over Fulham on the opening day of the season.

There are still doubts over Man Utd’s ability under Ten Hag, but they can get the critics off their backs with a win over Brighton.

The stats do not favour United, though, as they have lost 43% of their Premier League matches against Brighton, their highest % loss against any opponent in the competition’s history.

United are the underdog in this match and are priced at 2.65 at Housebets to get the win, while Brighton can be backed at 2.46 at Housebets.

LaLiga: Barcelona vs Athletic Bilbao

Barcelona started their life under Hansi Flick with a hard-fought win over Valencia in their first league game of the season

A brace from Robert Lewandowski, including a penalty gave Barcelona the win after Hugo Duro had put Valencia ahead.

Although it was not pretty, Flick would be delighted with the effort his players put in. Barcelona will now hope to build on that win when they welcome Athletic Bilbao on Saturday.

As for Athletic Bilbao, they got off their campaign to a 1-1 draw at home against Getafe but will be looking to cause an upset on Saturday.

Bilbao will fancy their chances against Flick’s men as they have been a tough nut to crack for Barca in recent years.

They are the underdog, though, priced at 5.00 to cause an upset on Saturday night. Meanwhile, Barcelona are the clear favourite and are backed at 1.60 to get the job done.

Serie A: Parma vs Milan

AC Milan will hope to get their first win of the season as they travel to Parma on Saturday evening.

Milan, under new manager Paulo Fonseca, played out a disappointing 2-2 draw against Torino in their first league game of the season at San Siro.

In fact, the Rosonneri were staring at defeat after going two goals down. But super subs Alvaro Morata and Noah Okafor scored two late goals to rescue a point for the home side.

The good news for Fonseca, though, he has a chance to set things right against Parma, who made their return to the top flight last weekend.

Fabio Pecchia’s men secured an impressive 1-1 draw at Fiorentina last weekend and will aim to mark their first home game on their return with a win.

The bad news for Parma, though, is that they have found it difficult against AC Milan in recent matches.

Parma are winless in their last eight matches against Milan, losing six. As a result of the gulf in quality between the two sides, Parm are priced at 4.60 to score an upset while AC Milan are favoured at 1.71 to get the win.

Bundesliga: Borussia Monchengladbach vs Bayer Leverkusen

Champions, Bayer Leverkusen start their Bundesliga defence with a trip to Borussia-Park to take on Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday night.

Leverkusen upset the odds and ended the dominance of Bayern Munich last season by winning their first league title.

Xabi Alonso will now hope to repeat the same trick this season and they have already started on a promising note, winning the German Super Cup.

Meanwhile, Monchengladbach, who beat  Erzgebirge Aue in the DFB-Pokal last weekend, will hope to build on their 14th-place finish last season.

But for that to change, they will need to improve on their home record. Monchengladbach are winless in their last six home games in Bundesliga and they face a Leverkusen side with 14 wins in their last 17 away matches in the league.

Leverjyseb are the favourites for this one and are priced at 1.57 to get the three points. Meanwhile, Monchengladbach are backed at 5.00 to get the job done.

Ligue 1: Lyon vs Monaco

Two of France’s biggest clubs face each other in the country’s top flight this weekend, with Lyon hosting Monaco.

The two clubs suffered contrasting in their opening games, with Monaco beating Saint-Etienne 1-0 while Lyon suffered a 3-0 loss to Stade Rennes.

Lyon had a similar start last season but will hope for a swift around this year.

History favours them, though, as they have won six of their last seven home games against Monaco.

However, on the flip side, Monaco have won eight of their last nine Ligue 1 matches, keeping six clean sheets in their last eight games.

Both teams are evenly matched according to odds. Lyon are the slight favourite with an odd of 2.45 at Housebets, while Monaco are priced at 2.60.

You can bet on these games and all other events at Housebets this weekend.
