Community Shield: Man City vs Man Utd Betting Preview, Lineups, Prediction, Kickoff time

All you need to know about Manchester City vs Manchester United’s clash in the Community Shield.

Manchester City and Manchester United are set to kickstart the excitement of the new season as they take on each other in the Community Shield.

This season’s curtain raiser will see last season’s Premier League champions take on the FA Cup winners.

The clash is a rematch of last season’s FA Cup, which Manchester United won 2-1 in a stunning upset.

Going into the clash Man City were the overwhelming favourite, having won both league games against their city rivals.

Pep Guardiola’s men were also seeking a league and cup double going into the game. But a quickfire double from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo in the first half set United on their way despite Jeremy Doku’s late effort.

But despite UInited’s win, Man City will head into the Community Shield clash as the clear favourite.

Manchester City vs Manchester United Preview

This is Manchester City’s third consecutive appearance in the Community Shield but have lost them all.

They will hope to avoid becoming the first team since Manchester United (1998-2001) to lose four in a row.

Pep Guardiola’s men have not made a major addition to their squad, but still have arguably the best squad in the league.

The former Barcelona man is expected to field his best team for the clash, with Haaland leading the frontline.

Haaland will hope to continue his good form against United, having scored six goals and set up another three in his last nine appearances against Erik Ten Hag’s men.

As for United, they will hope to secure the first bragging rights of the season by pulling off an upset.

They have won this competition more than any other side and both previous matches against City.

Man Utd are not one of the favourites for the league title this season, but they could lay down a marker with a win against the title favourites.

Unlike Man City, United have a few additions, although Leny Yoro will certainly miss the clash as he is currently out for two months due to an ankle injury.

However, fellow new signing, Joshua Zirkzee could make his competitive debut in the clash against the Premier League champions.

Manchester City and Manchester United Form Guide

Both clubs come into this clash following a poor pre-season. Man City beat Chelsea in their last match but lost games against AC Milan, Barcelona and Celtic.

Meanwhile, Man Utd posted two wins and five defeats, including a 3-0 loss to arch-rivals Liverpool in the States.

Manchester City and Manchester United Team News

Manchester City will be missing some key players but they are still expected to field a strong side.

England's trio of Kyle Walker, John Stones and Phil Foden will miss the clash as they are yet to return to training after reaching the Euro final.

Ederson, who is set to stay at the club, is also set to miss out, with Stefan Ortega likely to take his place in goal.

Aside from that, regulars like Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias and Manuel Akanji should all take part.

As for Manchester United, they will be without Yoro but Zirkzee should make his debut. Ten Hag will also be without the services of Rasmus Hojlund and Tyrell Malacia, while Harry Maguire is a doubt.

However, Kobbie Maino, Bruno Fernandes, Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot and Lisandro Martinez could all feature.

Manchester City Possible XI: Stefan Ortega, Manuel Akanji, Rúben Dias, Nathan Aké, Josko Gvardiol, Mateo Kovacic, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Oscar Bobb, Jack Grealish, Erling Haaland.

Manchester United Possible XI: André Onana, Diogo Dalot, Lisandro Martínez, Victor Lindelöf, Luke Shaw, Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo, Bruno Fernandes, Amad Diallo, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford.
