Euro 2024 Final Betting Preview: Spain vs England Odds and Predictions
Spain vs England Euro 2024 final lineups, kickoff time, betting odds, tips, and predictions.
All eyes will be on the Olympiastadion in Berlin on July 14, 2024, when Spain take on England in Euro 2024 showpiece clash.
The two countries will battle for the chance to be the best country in Europe for the next four years.
Both sides reached the final delivering contrasting performances but none of that will matter when the whistle sounds at the Olympiastadion on Sunday night.
The Three Lions, under Gareth Southgate, have been uninspiring with their conservative approach to the games, but they will not care as they are in the final.
Spain are seeking their fourth Euro, which will make them the first country to win the competition four times, having won it in 1964, 2008 and 2012.
As for England, the Three Lions are looking to win the competition for the first time after losing the final to Italy three years ago.
Spain vs England Euro 2024 Final Preview
As stated above, this match will be a contrast of styles, with Spain’s all-attacking play set to clash with England’s defensive approach.
Spain will go into the clash as favourite, and rightly so. Luis del la Fuente’s men have been the best team in the competition by far and showing that convincingly.
La Roja have gone through the most difficult route to reach the final, beating three former world champions and a one-time finalist at the World Cup.
Spain started their campaign with a comfortable 3-0 win over 2018 World Cup finalists Croatia before a dominant 1-0 win over Italy.
The 2010 world champions finished their group stage campaign with a 1-0 win over Albania. In the round of 16, Spain saw off a spirited Georgia side.
The quarter-final presented a host challenge in Germany, but La Roja came out on top 2-1 after extra time. The semifinal was against two-time world champions France, but Spain prevailed again by the same scoreline they beat Germany, although this time in 90 minutes.
But while del la Fuente’s men have been convincing all tournament, the same cannot be said about England.
The Three Lions laboured to a 1-0 win over Serbia in their opening match before a 1-1 draw against Denmark and a goalless draw against to barely finish top of their group.
Southgate’s men were just a minute away from crashing out in the round of 16 against Slovakia but got bailed out by Jude Bellingham’s equaliser.
The 1966 world champions eventually sealed the deal when Harry Kane scored the winner in the early stages of the first half of extra time.
England’s uninspiring performance continued in the quarter-final as they needed penalties to see off Switzerland after Bukayo Saka had cancelled Breel Embolo’s opener.
The semi-final against the Netherlands also saw England come back from a goal down to win the clash. Xavi Simons put the Oranje ahead inside ten minutes but Harry Kane drew the Three Lions level with his penalty.
The match appeared to be heading for extra-time until Ollie Watkins fired England into the final with a brilliant finish in the 90th minute.
Having looked at how both teams got to the final, it is fair to say Spain are the better side going into the final.
La Roja have not only passed through the most difficult route but have also been more convincing and entertaining.
Spain will definitely control possession, with the duo of Rodri and Fabian Ruiz likely to win the midfield battle.
England will prefer to cede possession, as usual, and hope to hit Spain on the break. The Three Lions will aim to exploit Cucurrella’s left-back position as the Chelsea man could be the weak link in Spain’s backline.
Spain players to watch
Lamine Yamal: There is no better player to start with than the Barcelona youngster. Yamal has been a revelation in this tournament, and that is even an understatement.
The 17-year-old’s talents were already known but they were in full display in this tournament. He has been a nightmare for full-backs in this tournament.
His performance in the semi-final against France is one that would be talked about forever after making history as the youngest goalscorer in Euro history.
Nico Williams
While Yamal is doing damage on one side of the pitch, Williams is also doing his bit on the other side. The Athletic Bilbao star has been equally devastating on the flanks like Yamal.
His speed and trickery on the ball will cause trouble for whoever plays against him for England
England Players to Watch
Jude Bellingham: Although there has not really been a standout player in this England side, Bellingham is still the Three Lions star player.
While he has not reached the heights of his performances for Real Madrid last season, Bellingham has come up clutch for England in this tournament, and that could be an important factor against Spain.
Harry Kane: Kane has three goals in this tournament, with no player scoring more. Although Kane has also not really performed to expectations, he is still clinical in front goal, and that should worry Spain.
Spain and England possible lineups
Spain are likely to make just one change to the side that beat France, with Dani Carvajal coming in for Jesus Navas after the Real Madrid star missed the game against the French due to a red card he received against Germany.
Pedri remains out for La Roja after picking up an injury against Germany, meaning Dani Olmo will retain his spot.
Meanwhile, England will likely name an unchanged side, although Luke Shaw could come in for Kieran Trippier in the left-back role.
Despite coming on to score the winner against The Netherlands, Watkins is expected to start from the bench again.
Spain's possible starting lineup:
Simon; Carvajal, Le Normand, Laporte, Cucurella; Ruiz, Rodri, Olmo; Yamal, Morata, Williams
England's possible starting lineup:
Pickford; Walker, Stones, Guehi; Saka, Mainoo, Rice, Shaw; Bellingham, Foden; Kane
Spain vs England Betting Odds
Spain are the favourite for this game and are backed at 2.50 to win inside 90 minutes at Housebets, while England are priced at 3.45 to cause an upset.
Given there is a possibility that the match could go beyond 90 minutes, Spain are backed to win the final at 1.70 at Housebets, while England are backed at 2.26.
Finals are always a cagey affair, but there could be goals in this one. Over 2.5 goals is priced at 2.46 at Housebets, while Spain to score over 1.5 goals is 2.70. Meanwhile, England to score a goal in the final is 1.50 at Housebets.
Spain vs England Betting Tips
Spain are expected to dominate proceedings from the start, so it is only right to back them. De la Fuente’s men have scored the most goals in this competition (13), created the most chances (96) and won all their games.
It will be very hard for England to stop Spain from scoring, even though the Three Lions have been solid defensively in the competition.
With Rodri pulling the strings in the midfield and the two danger men causing havoc on the flanks, Spain to win at 2.50 looks like a good Moneyline option.
However, if you are not sure about the winner, you can back Spain to score or Over 1.5 goals.
