Heavyweight Weekend: Problem Child Jake Paul seeks to end Mike Tyson’s legacy

Mike Tyson is back and you can bet on his fight against Jake Paul at Housebets.com.

The weekend is here again and it promises to be a big one for sports lovers, even though there is no club football to watch because of the international break.

Yes, the international break will deny us the chance to watch our favourite clubs but it also means we can show patriotism by cheering our nations.

Also, it’s the last international break of the year, which is a positive.

However, if you are not a fan of the international break, there are still other sports that you can watch this weekend and you will not be disappointed.

In fact, football will take a backseat this weekend as this weekend for the heavyweights in combat sports.

There are two huge fights this weekend in combat sports and it does not get bigger than that.

These two fights will take centre stage this weekend and nothing comes close. Without further ado, let’s look at the weekend's two biggest fights.

Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson

If you had told a fight fan at the beginning of the year that one of the biggest fights of 2024 would be Jake Paul’s fight against Mike Tyson, he/she would have said you don’t know what you are talking about.

However, here we are in November, waiting for the clash between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.

In fairness, it’s normal not to see it happening because it just does not make sense.

Jake Paul is not seen as a professional boxer, while Tyson has not fought a professional fight in over 20 years.

But in this fight game, when there’s money, there’s always a will and a way. This is the case in this fight, which has been criticised by most fight fans.

Nonetheless, the whole world will be watching the fight on Netflix. As for the fight, it’s hard to look past Jake Paul, honestly.

Even though he has not fought any real fighter except for a few former MMA stars, Paul is still the favourite at 1.45 at Housebets.com

The 27-year-old is 31 years younger and has been active in recent years compared to Tyson whose last professional fight was 20 years ago, although he beat Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition fight a few years ago.

Despite being the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world at one point, many fight fans do not see Tyson walking away with a win.

The man who was once dubbed the ‘baddest man on the planet’ is way past his prime and looked a shell of his former self when he last fought professionally 24  years ago.

Also, there are doubts surrounding his health as the fight had to be postponed from the original date in July after Tyson suffered a stomach ulcer issue.

But despite the doubts surrounding Tyson’s health, expect him to bring the beast. The build-up to the fight is already feisty after Tyson slapped Paul during their faceoff on Thursday night.

UFC 309: Jon Bones vs Stipe Miocic

A day after Tyson’s bout against Paul, we will witness another big fight when Jon Jones takes on Stipe Miocic for the heavyweight title in the main event of UFC 309 at the Madison Square Garden.

This is one of the most anticipated fights of the year as both fighters are regarded as two of the all-time greats in UFC history.

Jones is 21-1 in the UFC but he is technically undefeated as his only loss was via disqualification.

The 37-year-old comes into this fight on the back of a dominant submission win over Ciryl Gane at UFC 285.

That win saw Jones capture the heavyweight title, which had been vacant for three years. But that win came almost two years ago, meaning Jones comes into this clash with no fight in 20 months.

The same applies to Miocic, who last fought in March 2021, losing to former UFC fighter Francis Nngannou.

Miocic holds the record for the most consecutive title defences (three) in UFC heavyweight history and he’s a two-time heavyweight champion.

Although both fighters are past their prime, this is still an exciting fight.

Jones goes into the fight as the clear favourite, priced at 1.16 against Miocic’s 5.60 at Housebets.com
