This weekend is another chance to place bets at Housebets, and you can start with our picks of the week.
The Champions League dominated headlines during the week, as the first matchday took centre stage.
However, attention now turns to domestic leagues this weekend, with some tricky matches set to take place in the Premier League.
Still, we will try to get the picks right.
Liverpool vs Everton
Our Pick: Liverpool win or Over 2.5
The first match in our selection this week is Liverpool’s clash against Everton in what is the first Merseyside derby of the season.
The champions host Everton at Anfield as they seek to make it five league wins out of five this campaign.
Liverpool have not hit full gear yet, but they are still the team to beat. The Reds have needed late goals to win all four of their Premier League games this season, but will be hoping to get an easy win against their neighbours on Saturday.
Arne Slot’s men come into the game on the back of a 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid, with the Reds needing a late header from Virgil Van Dijk to get the win.
Everton, meanwhile, have also had a decent start to the season, despite suffering a 1-0 defeat to Leeds United on the opening weekend.
The Toffees have picked up seven points from their last three league games, and come into this game following a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa.
David Moyes’ men will come into this game full of confidence, but history suggests that they will leave empty-handed.
The Toffees have not won a league game at Anfield since 1999, and have won just two of their last 29 league games against Liverpool.
The odds also back Liverpool to pick up the three points, with Liverpool priced at 1.47 to beat their rivals. There could also be goals in this one, with over 2.5 priced at 1.61, as per odds from Housebets.
Manchester United vs Chelsea
Our Pick: Over 2.5 or Manchester United to score
This weekend is loaded with big games, and one of them is Manchester United’s clash against Chelsea at Old Trafford. ‘
Red Devils have had a disappointing start to the season and are badly in need of a win to relieve the pressure on Ruben Amorim.
Since he was appointed as United’s manager, Amorim has only won eight league games, which is enough reason to sack him at any club.
It is a miracle that the former Sporting Lisbon manager is still in charge, although time is running out for him.
Last week’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City piled more pressure on him, but Amorim can buy himself more time should his side beat Chelsea.
On current form, though, it looks like a difficult task, as United have only won just one out of their four league games, and they even needed a last-minute penalty from Bruno Fernandes to get the win.
As for Chelsea, they have fared better than United, but recent results suggest that they might not have what it takes to mix with the big boys this season.
The Blues started their campaign with a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace before beating West Ham and Fulham.
However, they were held to a 2-2 draw by Brentford last weekend and suffered a 3-1 defeat against Bayern Munich in their first match on return to the Champions League.
Should they lose to an out-of-sorts United, questions will be asked of Enzo Maresca’s squad mentality.
It is not impossible, though, as Chelsea have a poor record at Old Trafford. Despite being the better team, the Blues are winless in their last 12 league games at Old Trafford (L5, D7).
This is a difficult match to call, but considering United have a strong record at home against the Blues, you can back them to score at least one goal at 1.22, as per odds from Housebets.
Chelsea are also likely to score, so you can back over 2.5 at 1.56.
Real Madrid vs Espanyol
Our Pick: Real Madrid Win.
Real Madrid could temporarily go five points clear at the top when they take on Espanyol in their LaLiga clash at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday afternoon.
Los Blancos are the only team in the Spanish top flight with a 100% record this season, and can make it five wins out of five with a win over Barcelona’s city rivals.
Although Madrid have not been at their best, they have made a perfect start to the season. Los Blancos rode their luck in their last two games, needing two penalties from Kylian Mbappe to beat Olympique Marseille in their Champions League opener.
However, despite their perfect start to the season, Xabi Alonso will be aware that performance needs to improve, and he will be hoping that is the case on Saturday.
As for Espanyol, they will be hoping for back-to-back victories over Madrid, although it looks unlikely.
The Catalan side won the last meeting between the two, but they have not won at the Bernabeu since 1996.
They have had a good start to the season, though, picking up ten points from their first four games of the season.
Madrid are the massive favourites for this clash, though. Los Blancos are priced at 1.19 to win the game.
Arsenal vs Manchester City
The biggest clash of the weekend will see Arsenal take on Manchester City in a huge game for both sides.
By the time the game kicks off, Arsenal could be six points behind Liverpool, or City could be nine points behind the Reds, depending on results.
This is why it is a very important game for both sides, even though we are only five games into the season.
The Gunners will be looking for a third consecutive home win over Pep Guardiola’s men, and will be confident in their chances of winning.
After finally breaking the stronghold City had over them for years, Arsenal are unbeaten in their last four league games against Guardiola’s men.
They come into the game in fine form after beating Athletic Bilbao 2-0 in their Champions League opener.
Meanwhile, City will be looking to win three consecutive games for the first time this season after beating Manchester United and Napoli in their last two matches.
The Cityzens started their campaign with a 4-0 win over Wolves, but suffered back-to-back defeats to Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton before getting back to winning ways against the Red Devils.
Guardiola’s men are the underdogs going into this match, though, with the team priced at 3.90 to win the game.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are priced at 1.90 to win, while over 1.5 goals is priced at 1.26
Barcelona vs Getafe
Our Pick: Barcelona win or over 2.5
Barcelona will be looking to continue their fine start to the season when they host Getafe on Sunday night.
Hansi Flick’s men have won all but one of their games in all competitions this season. Despite that start, though, they are two points behind Real Madrid, meaning they cannot afford to drop points.
Barca are good for the win, though. They come into this game on the back of a 2-1 win against Newcastle. This was after they thrashed Valencia 6-0 in their last LaLiga game.
Getafe have also started their campaign with three wins out of four, and will fancy their chances against the champions.
However, they have never won a league game at Barca’s ground and are also a massive underdog at 13.00. Barca, meanwhile, are the favourites at 1.22, while over 2.5 goals is at 1.56.
