The weekend is officially over but it was one to behold for sports lovers as every sporting action delivered.
Although a few sports are currently on break for the festive season, fans were still treated to non-stop action.
Football, as expected, was the major highlight of the weekend, with actions taking place across Europe’s domestic leagues and worldwide.
Meanwhile, the UFC also returned with UFC 310, while the Formula 1 season came to a close on Sunday. Without further ado, we take a look at the biggest talking points from last weekend.
Are Chelsea title contenders?
Whisper it quietly, but Chelsea may be Liverpool’s biggest rivals for the Premier League title this season after they moved up to second on the table.
Before the start of the season, the Blues were not seen as one of the teams that could win the league as they finished seventh last season.
However, Chelsea may be legitimate contenders this season after they beat Tottenham Hotspur 4-3 in their Premier League clash on Sunday evening.
Going into the encounter, Chelsea were one point behind Arsenal in second place and seven points behind Liverpool, who had their game against Everton called off due to weather conditions.
However, Chelsea knew they could go second with a win at Spurs after Arsenal played a 1-1 draw against Fulham earlier in the day.
The Blues started poorly as Spurs took the lead after Brennan Johnson capitalised on a slip from Marc Cucurella to set up Dominic Solanke for the opener.
One became two as Cucurella slipped again to allow Dejan Kulusevski to fire past Robert Sanchez for Spurs' second.
It looked like the Blues were up against it, but Jadon Sancho pulled one back for Enzo Maresca’s men. Sancho’s goal was the lift Chelsea needed as it energised them for the rest of the encounter.
Although Spurs went into the break with a slender lead, Chelsea restored parity in the second half through Cole Palmer’s penalty after Yves Bissouma brought down Moises Caicedo in the box.
From that moment on, it was all Chelsea and they got their reward as Enzo Fernandez put them ahead before Palmer scored his second from the spot again.
Although Son Heung-Min pulled one back for Spurs in injury time, Chelsea held on for a win that took them second and four points behind Liverpool, who have a game in hand.
Lando Norris wins in Abu Dhabi
The final Formula 1 race of the year took place in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, with Lando Norris winning a thrilling race.
Norris would have been disappointed to lose the world title to Max Verstappen, but he knew a perfect race would seal the constructor’s title for McLaren.
And that was exactly the Briton did as he ran a perfect race to round off his season with a superb win.
Having secured pole in qualifying, Norris started well on Sunday, taking control from the start ahead of Oscar Piastri and Verstappen, battling for second.
Although the race had a few chaos, Norris kept his cool and was not bothered for most parts of the race.
The 25-year-old ran past the the chequered flag by five seconds ahead of the two Ferrari drivers Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc, thereby sealing the constructor’s title for McLaren.
